Diane Nickelberg-Barnett began practicing law in 1998 and discovered the benefits of Yoga and Meditation about ten years later. After a few months of classes, she became happily aware of how much calmer and more focused she had become despite the daily challenges of running a busy law office. Diane first became certified as a Yoga instructor in 2009 after completing a 200-hour teacher-training program at Bamboo Moves in Forest Hills, New York. She received a second certification the following year at Saraswati’s Yoga Joint in Norwalk, Connecticut. Desiring to expand her knowledge of the practice even further and share her experience with many diverse segments of the population, she received her certification in “Teaching Yoga to Breast Cancer Survivors” from Om Yoga in New York City in 2010 and in 2011 completed a training in “Teaching Corporate Yoga” at Reflections Yoga in New York City. More recently, Diane received certification in teaching Mindfulness Meditation through Kaia Yoga in Westport, CT, taught by David Nichtern. Wishing to constantly learn and improve her own skills and best serve her students, Diane continues to study through classes and workshops with many prominent and renowned yogins including Seane Corne, Judith Lasater, Dharma Mittra, Natasha Rizoupoulos, Rodney Yee, Jillian Pransky, Cyndi Lee, Tao Porchon-Lynch and more.
Diane has taught private and group classes to students of all ages and levels in New York City and Connecticut at studios, corporate offices and schools. She believes strongly in bringing the practices of yoga and meditation into the workplace- whether it be through a Mindfulness Meditation practice, a 30-minute session of guided meditation, movement and breathing or an hour-long vinyasa flow class. Her philosophy is simple. “If employees can take just a short time out of their day to take pause, focus on their breath and off of their stress, they become happier and healthier and therefore more likely to do their job in a more efficient and productive manner.”
